8879 Update
As of March 11, 2014, the IRS updated Publication 1345 to allow electronic signatures on Forms 8878 and 8879, providing that the taxpayer’s identity has been verified in person, or by the use of knowledge-based authentication.
What does this mean for you as the taxpayer? It means you no longer have to spend the time driving to our office to sign tax forms. It allows you the freedom of accessing your documents from a secure document exchange while at work or sitting on your couch. You can then easily sign the required documents from your smartphone or tablet and go about your business. Since we will no longer have to wait for you to come into the office to sign documents, this is helpful to everyone as it expedites the process of preparing, approving, and sending your tax return.
